Welcome to my website. I am currently working as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Humboldt University in Berlin (HU-Berlin) after finishing my PhD in bioinformatics on the 17th of November 2014.  I obtained my PhD from the Groningen Bioinformatics Centre (GBIC), part of the University of Groningen. During my PhD I worked part-time for the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG) at the Genomics Coordination Centre (GCC). This website is to showcase what I do for work, and keep a blog about my work and personal life.

I develop new methodologies and create (open source) software for use in (systems) biology research, like the addition of Multiple QTL Mapping (MQM) into R/qtl . The focus of my PhD thesis was computational methods in quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis, and integration of big data sets in a useful / comprehensive manner. People interested in my work can read more about what I do in the Publications section or on my Blog. Most software can be found on Github.

This web site is setup to be broader than only focus on what I do for work. I also have some pages dedicated to my passion for software visualization, games, movies, music, and you can look at photos of my my cat Oscar.

If you want to know more about me, feel free you to visit the rest of my homepage, read my Blog, learn about my Research or my Personal interests.

Thanks for visiting,
Danny Arends
