Welcome to my website. I finished my PHD in bioinformatics on the 17th of November 2014 and I am currently working as a PostDoc for the Humboldt University in Berlin (HU-Berlin). I did my PHD in Bioinformatics at the Groningen Bioinformatics Centre (GBIC), which is part of the University of Groningen, during my PHD I was also working part-time for the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG) at the Genomics Coordination Centre (GCC). Here I showcase what it is that I do for work, and I keep a blog about my work and personal life.
I develop new methodologies and create (open source) software for use in (systems) biology research, like the addition of Multiple QTL Mapping (MQM) into R/qtl . The focus of my PHD thesis is computational methods in quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis, and the integration of big data sets in a useful / comprehensive manner (e.g. a single plot or visualization). People interested in my work can read more about what I do in the Publications section or on my Blog. Most software can be found on my Github code repository.
This web site is setup to be more broad than only focus on what I do for work. I also have some pages dedicated to my passion for software visualization, games, movies and music. You can find some screen shots of my C++ rendering engine on this website. Additionally you can download the old games I used to enjoy playing when I was younger. These games can be easily downloaded as a single rar or zip formatted file. Perhaps you just want to look at some photos of my my cat Oscar.
Thanks for visiting,
