Home
Welcome to my website. I am a PHD student Bioinformatics at the Groningen Bioinformatics centre (GBIC), which is part of the University of Groningen. Also I'm working part-time for the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG) at the Genomics Coordination Centre (GCC). Here I showcase what it is that I do for work, and I keep a blog about my work and personal life.
I develop new methodologies and create (open source) software for use in (systems) biology research. The focus of my PHD thesis is computational methods in quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis, and the integration of big data sets in a useful / comprehensive manner (e.g. a single plot or visualization). People interested in my work can read more about what I do in the Publications section or on my Blog. Most software can be found on my Github code repository.
This web site is setup to be more broad than just focus on what I do for work. I also have some pages dedicated to my passion for software visualization, games, movies and music. You can find some screen shots of my C++ rendering engine or just download the old games I used to enjoy playing when I was younger. Or perhaps you just want to look at photos of my my cat.
If you want to know more about me, feel free you to visit the rest of my homepage, read my Blog, learn about my Research or my Personal interests.
Thanks for visiting,
Danny Arends
